La la la la laaaa.
1/6/13 - The episode of Sing-A-Gram, "Bachelor Party", that I appear in has gone live! Check it out HERE.
Dead people with wings with no clothes.
11/29/12 - One more thing coming up that I'm really happy to announce. I'll be performing in the Naked Angels' First Mondays Reading Series on Monday, December 10th, at 3:30pm in Lucas Kavner's Incredible Carnival, directed by Stephen Brackett at the Daryl Roth Theatre in Union Square.
One. Two. Three. Uno. Dos. Tres. *.**.***.
11/27/12 - Three things coming up.
1) This Sunday, December 2nd, I will be appearing in Christopher Sullivan's piece, "And Richie's Santa Now", as a part of the EST/Youngblood Brunch series. This series is a seasonal offering, appropriately called "Gold, Frankincense, and Brunch". The piece will be directed by Kel Haney, and the cast will also include Steven Boyer, Darcy Fowler, Dave Gelles, and Max Tolan. The show starts at 1pm and there's an open bar and a brunch buffet. Pretty awesome setup for a great afternoon of new plays. I'm very happy to be getting the opportunity to work with these awesome people in my first experience at the Youngblood Brunch. Go HERE to get tickets.
2) I will be performing a one night only presentation of a one man show by Torrey Townsend called "Taking Part" at Dixon Place Thursday, December 6th, at 8pm as a part of Dixon Place's Catalyst Project directed by Soho Rep Artistic Associate Nathan Shreeve. Really looking forward to this. My first ever one man show. Go HERE to get tickets.
3) I will also be performing in #serials@theflea next week Thursday through Saturday at 11pm at the Flea Theater. Hope to see you there. Go HERE to find out more.

Boo.
10/31/12 - Happy Halloween everyone! I did a print campaign with BBDO for AT&T a few weeks ago for their new HTC cell phone, and my image is currently AT&T's cover photo on Facebook. Check it out. Ghost bombing!
Larry the Cable Guy Noir
10/23/12 - Spent the day filming a cool spot with Lawrence Chen films and BBDO for the Ad Council. I played a dapper and mysterious man with a suspiciously sleek silver briefcase. Oh, yeah, and Larry the Cable Guy interrupted our shoot in an alley downtown with a pack of dogs and his own camera crew.
The up and coming (coming up)
10/19/12 - Very psyched to announce that I will be reprising the lead role of Jeremy in Nathan Leigh and Kyle Jarrow's The Consequences for a special staged reading presentation at the Flea Theater on Wednesday, October 31st. I will again be directed by the very talented Kel Haney. The performance will begin at 3pm, and seats are limited. Email [email protected] to reserve a seat for free.
Pop Pop Pic(s)
10/18/12 - Here's some new screen shots from the upcoming film Pop Pop that I'm starring in. It's gonna be screening next Friday, the 26th at Spike Hill in Williamsburg.
I see dead people.
10/10/12 - Shooting a spec AT&T spot today with the talented Lawrence Chen. There will be ghosts...
PORTLANDIA NOIR
10/4/12 - This Sunday I'll be filming a scene for an upcoming pilot, "What Is Your Project About?", with Lacey-Day Productions in Williamsburg. WIYPA is like a darker version of Portlandia. Portlandia after dark...? I play the "Sad Guy". Happy to be a part of this.
POP-POP
9/24/12 - I've been cast in a film called Pop Pop, written and directed by Dylan Stephen Levers. It's about a group of friends in Bushwick. It's gonna be quirky, fun, weird, and it's gonna have dance, folks. That's right- dance. We start filming this weekend. Very excited.
Film still...
Here's a shot from between takes on the first day of filming...
Asking For Trouble...
9/19/12 - I'm very happy to be participating in this year's Asking For Trouble at the Ensemble Studio Theatre. Asking For Trouble is EST's 10 minute play festival in which EST's own Youngblood playwrights pick the names of actors, a director, a title, and a postcard (for inspiration) out of a hat (yes, literally from a hat) and then have just a few weeks to write and put up a brand new play. Tonight is the pick party!
*post pick party - it looks like I'll be working with playwright Eric March and director Jeremy Bloom. My play is called Harpoon'd, and I will be joined by Kristen Adele, Julie Fitzpatrick, and Ethan Hova. It's gonna be a musical...(!) Can't wait.

Sing-A-Gram
9/16/12 - Just filmed an episode of the web series Sing-A-Gram for mydamnchannel.com directed by Kristopher Knight. I played a less-than-astute best man who accidentally gets a singing telegram girl for his best buddy's bachelor party instead of a stripper. Had a lot of fun and looking forward to it showing up on the interwebs...
Ping Ping Ping
9/12/12 - I've just been cast as the "Did It Guy" in a promo video for Did It SEM marketing with Ping Media Concepts. I will be filming next friday in Long Island.
-Next Week- a play about time travel - In the Future-
9/6/12 - Next week I'll be participating in a five day workshop of a new play by A. Rey Pamatmat called Out of Joint under the direction of Victor Maog. The workshop is a co-production between the Lark Play Development Center and the Flea Theater. A. Rey is a recent recipient of a Princess Grace Award, which is helping to make this workshop happen. I'll be taking part in this workshop with a great cast of talented actors from the Bats. The play is about time travel and has dinosaurs and we are going to get to play with all kinds of cool technology (fingers crossed for laser cats). I'm very much looking forward to this.
Victor Frange Presents GAS!
8/8/12 - Here's some info on the show! Go to incubatorarts.org for tickets.
Using a treadmill and stationary bicycle to power the stage, amateur scholar Victor Frange sets out to present his late uncle’s never-before-seen adaptation of the 1918 expressionist play Gas I. Part documentary-style theater, part adaptation, and largely ridiculous, Victor Frange Presents Gas examines three generations of idealist theater-makers in their quest to find a productive artistic response to humanity’s voracious, unsustainable, appetite for all things energy-related.
When Victor Frange inherits the substantial Frange Family agricultural fortune, he decides to fulfill his long-held dream of remounting the only production ever attempted by late uncle Terry’s ill-fated 1960s “Generator Generation” theater collective: a not-so-seminal adaptation of Georg Kaiser’s 1918 expressionist playGas I. Victor’s hired the best actors money can buy and sent them off to rehearse armed only with two documents: the Generator Generation’s rehearsal log (including diary entries, group prompts, and song lyrics); and the original text of Gas I.
Tonight’s presentation is supposed to be the payoff: after decades of neglect, it’s finally time reveal Uncle Terry’s powerful utopian vision in its entirety. But it’s not quite going as planned. The eco-conscious (and luxury-tax evading) commitment to powering the show by self-generated energy sources is hard to pull off; the actors are struggling to make sense of the Generator Generation’s cryptic notes; and worst of all Victor keeps interrupting the show to interview the cast. When the actors declare their plan to replace Act IV of the script with a super-hero subplot, the whole evening threatens to come to a screeching halt.
Co-Conceived and Directed by Sarah Krohn
Play by Dan O’Neil
Choreography by Katie Rose McLaughlin
Lighting Design by Ken Wills

Stage Management by Kate Kuhle
Costume Design by Mel Kier
Scenic Design by Bryce Cutler and Patrick Rizzotti

Audition first.
7/27/12 - Today I had an audition for Broadway's Once for Jim Carnahan Casting for the lead role of Guy (they're looking for future replacements). This was my first Broadway audition.
Summer at W.H.A.T.
6/4/12 - I'm currently in Wellfleet, MA playing one of the leads in Nathan Leigh and Kyle Jarrow's new indie rock musical, The Consequences, under the direction of Kel Haney. (Promo video, cast picture, and poster below)
*Trailer by Crystal Arnette.
I'm in the Boston Globe! Go here to see a little blurb in the Boston Globe where a picture of me with my director and co-star from The Consequences at W.H.A.T. was featured. (picture below)
During the run of The Wundelsteipen I was featured in Time Out NY Magazine in their theater section's "Photo of the Week" page. (Below)
BIG NEWS!
4/25/12 - As the performances for The Wundelsteipen at the Flea quickly approach, I'm very excited to announce some big news. On May 24th, the day after The Wundelsteipen closes, I'll be spiriting off to Cape Cod where I'm going to be one of the leads in the world premiere of Kyle Jarrow and Nathan Leigh's new indie-rock musical The Consequences at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater with direction by Kel Haney. Performances will run from June 14th through July 7th.
I couldn't be more happy to be a part of this project and more humbled by my cast mates, Libby Winters (Broadway's American Idiot) and Andrew Guilarte (Playco's INVASION!). I can't wait to perform this wonderful piece of theatre with them, and to be in such a beautiful location... awesome. This is also my first Equity show, an invigorating and inspiring precedent.
Sadly, this means that I have had to bow out of the upcoming remounting of These Seven Sicknesses at the Flea. I will miss my T7S cast and crew extremely and wish them great, great success with the second run of this extraordinary work.
More soon...

Going uptown...
4/9/12 - This Thursday, the 12th, I'll be acting in a scene at Columbia University under the direction of MFA directing student Matthew Balzer for Adrienne Weiss's Directing the Actor class.
The Wundelsteipen (and Other Difficult Roles for Young People)
4/7/12 - The title may be subject to change, but considering that it's on the Flea's website now, it seems official. I'm going to be in a world premiere evening of new short plays by Nick Jones at the Flea Theater April 27th through May 23rd. Nick is a hilarious playwright, whose plays have been produced at Lincoln Center, Ars Nova, Joe's Pub, and the Vineyard, to name a few. (He will also soon be jetting away from our rehearsals in NYC to go write for a new Netflix original series called Orange is the New Black in La La Land with the creator of Showtime's Weeds. Very cool.)

The SMACKDOWN!
3/30/12 - It's almost time for the Unproducible SMACKDOWN with Studio 42! I'm so excited to be doing these two plays. I'm going to be in Rob Askins' The Boy With the Tiger Tattoo (dir. Stephen Brackett) and Nick Jones' Everybaby (dir. Luke Harlan). Both plays and casts are amazing. Enter the code FFSMACK to get $15 tickets. Go to www.Stu42.com.
Things you don't expect...
3/22/12 - So today I was planning on reading stage directions for Betty Shamieh's lovely play, Veritas, at Guild Hall, when last minute one of the actors dropped out, so guess who stepped in? Here's to very cold reads. Luke Harlan directed, and the cast of actors I was with were extremely talented and terribly humbling to share the stage with. It was an unexpectedly fun evening.
Speed Dating!
3/22/12 - Yesterday I did a really fun, unusual project. I was the lead in an educational video produced by People's Television for ESL speakers. The video I was in was about dating in the city, and for the shoot I had to participate in a night of speed dating at a bar in midtown Manhattan. 20 "dates", 5 minutes each. The whistle blows and on to the next. Crazy! Most of the women there knew I was the actor "plant" because of the camera and lights following me around, but I still managed to have a few actual "speed dates". I chatted with some school teachers, a girl did a magic trick for me, and I even met some ladies who taught ESL themselves. The wildest thing was running into someone who I already knew. Wild. It definitely wasn't something I ever expected I would be involved with, but what a great excuse to do it. The video was produced by Oxford University Press.
Cast in a Nick Jones show and T7S to return!
3/20/12 - More new news! This time it's newier, and newsier. I just found out two exciting things today. First: I was cast in an evening of Nick Jones (The Coward at LCT3; Jollyship the Whizbang) short plays entitled Salome: Disney Princess (And Other Terrible Roles for Young People) at the Flea Theater. The production will have performances from April 27th through May 23rd at the Flea and will be directed by Tom Costello. I can tell you for certain that this will be a hilarious, hilarious night of absurd theatre.
Also, I just found out that due to popular acclaim and critical fandom, These Seven Sicknesses will be remounted at the Flea Theater for 24 performances this June/July. More details to come about the exact dates, but this is very exciting news. We were very lucky to get such great responses from audiences and sell out almost every show, so it's wonderful news that we'll be doing the show again and allowing more people to experience this exciting production. I'll be coming back as Neoptolemus. More info to come...
P.S. - Rehearsals for the Studio 42 Unproducible SMACKDOWN start tomorrow, and I couldn't be more excited. The Rob Askins play I'm in, The Boy With the Tiger Tattoo, is amazing. I play Aaron. He gets a tiger tattoo. He also learns a little lesson about the human anatomy... The Nick Jones play I'm in, Everybaby, is described as a medieval morality tale for babies, and I think that says it all. They're both going to be so much fun, and I really hope you can come out to what is going to be a really fun party. Get your tickets at http://www.stu42.com.

Ars Nova reading
3/19/12 - New news! Just found out that I'll be reading stage directions in Rachel Bond's new play The Noise at Ars Nova as a part of their OUTLOUD play reading series this coming Monday, the 26th, at 7pm. Portia Krieger directs.
I'll also be reading stage directions in Betty Shemiah's play Veritas at Guild Hall this Thursday, the 22nd. Luke Harlan directs.

Welcome to alexherrald.com!
It's 3/13/2012 and alexherrald.com is born! I just finished with the wildly successful (and twice extended) run of Sean Graney's These Seven Sicknesses at the Flea Theater. In T7S, Sean Graney adapted all of Sophocles's extant tragedies with a mixture of beautiful, classical text and quick-witted modern dialogue. The result was an epic night of incest, drama, bloody gore, intense stage combat, and shockingly hilarious revelations. We sold out almost every single night, which for a 5 hour marathon of tragedies, is pretty spectacular. Find out more here.
I'm also a part of a hilarious new podcast, Air New Smyrna. In it, I play Dan, an air traffic controller and radio show host. Dan interviews playwrights in the New York City theater community and answers calls about love and relationships. It's a scripted Colbert Report-esque talk show set in the mysterious town of New Smyrna, Florida. Click here to hear the first episode with playwright Rob Askins, whose play Hand to God is being revived to much acclaim at the Ensemble Studio Theatre.
And one more thing. On March 31st I will be performing in Studio 42's Unproducible SMACKDOWN! Six plays will compete for the title of SMACKDOWN Champion. Competing playwrights include Rob Askins (Hand to God at EST), Nick Jones (The Coward at LCT3), Josh Conkel (MilkMilkLemonade), Bekah Brunstetter (Oohrah! at Atlantic Stage 2), Gregory Moss (punkplay at Clubbed Thumb), and Crystal Skillman (Cut). I'll be performing in Nick Jones's play under the direction of Luke Harlan and also in Rob Askins' play under the direction of Stephen Brackett. For more information and tickets to this really cool event, go here.
Stay tuned for news on my next stage project....
